Introduction to Gold Coast

This stretch of golden sand on Australia’s east coast is a sun-lovers paradise. Stand on Main Beach gazing at long stretches of beautiful beach and sparkling blue water lapping against the shore.

Working on your tan is the only sort of work you’ll be thinking of with a holiday to the Gold Coast.

Turning around, you’ll face the glamorous side of the GC – a strip of cool bars, trendy clubs and boutique shops along Broadbeach. Whether beaches, babes (of both genders) or bars, Gold Coast is a destination that delivers for a weeklong break or a naughty weekend away.

There’s more than just sun and sand to admire though, with the famous theme parks nearby. Great fun for couples or get your group together and take a holiday to remember.

Must Do

The beaches. Seriously, you can’t go to Gold Coast without spending some time on the gorgeous white sands. The best one to visit is Main Beach in Surfers Paradise, always lively and bustling with a young crowd hitting the beach or nightspots.

For somewhere a little quieter, Broadbeach is just up the road and just as good for swimming, surfing or just chilling.

They’re a bit of a cliché, but the nearby theme parks like Movie World, Dream World and Wet ‘n’ Wild are well worth making a day trip to. Awesome rides and interactive experiences are guaranteed fun whatever your age, so leave your cares behind at the door.

Hug a koala at the Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary. Or a snake if that’s more your thing. This sanctuary is very hands on and allows you to get up close and personal with lots of indigenous Australian animals. There are daily shows so you can find out a bit more about our furry friends.

Shopaholics will want to grab a credit card and clear a day from their schedule for visiting the iconic Pacific Fair shopping centre, where over 300 speciality stores await them.
