Introduction to Las Vegas
You know the saying. 'What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas.' There's a reason for it. One minute you're playing a colourfully illuminated slot machine, the next you're getting married at 3am under the supervision of an Elvis impersonator. Such is the lure of Las Vegas. A parallel universe where clocks are nowhere to be seen, time is irrelevant and the party never stops. There's a reason they call it Sin City. It's just up to you to discover why - within reason (and the law).
One reason probably has to do with its location. A golden city found within the arid Nevada Desert. Despite its desolate setting, Las Vegas is equipped as a mini world in one. The strip beams with exotic landmarks, recreating Paris, Venice and New York, albeit glitzier versions, while casinos put on all the bells, whistles and fountains to entice passersby into gambling a buck or two. While much of Las Vegas is about black jack, limos and debauchery, that's not all there is to offer. There's neon museums dedicated to the days of Vegas past, ample shopping to spend your winnings on and rides and rafts for when all you can afford is a cheap thrill. Whatever floats your boat, just remember that what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas.
If there is one thing to do in Las Vegas it's win big. Unfortunately this is easier said than done and about as likely to happen as Taylor Swift getting back together with one of her exes (never ever apparently). But it doesn't hurt to have a go. While we can't give you any tips on how to win, we can tell you that the more social games are the way to go. Step away from the noisy slot machine and into a blackjack chair. Roulette is great for the novices and a good way to have a flutter without blowing it all in a 5 hour slot-machine binge (there's no clocks in casino for a reason).
Once you've had a go, step away from the betting floor and explore the perks of the casinos. The Bellagio Fountains are a must, the breakfast buffet at Wynn a perfect hangover cure and the New York-New York Roller Coaster a cheap thrill best enjoyed a few hours after that breakfast buffet has settled in your stomach. Then there are the party pools, lavish spas, expansive nightclubs and resident shows. Whatever you choose, just prepare for it to be very shiny and sleek looking. So even if you don't win big, you can still enjoy yourself while feeling like a million bucks.
